Go in Peace!
Go in Peace! takes an intimate look at the caregivers' role in healing the soul wounds of veterans. This documentary considers the ingredients for healing that may alleviate emotional and spiritual burdens that veterans have carried throughout their lives. There is a focus on how to tend to veterans who are facing their own mortality through serious illness, which can bring the past quite clearly again into focus, especially when pain has been numbed and memories buried to cope with everyday life. Soul wounding is PTSD,, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or Post Terror Soul Distress as it has been called. National experts in veterans' care, Dr. Ed Tick, author of War and the Soul, and Deborah Grassman, former VA hospice advanced registered nurse practitioner, author of Peace at Last: Stories of Hope and Healing share their wisdom. Go in Peace! featured at the 2015 National Hospice and Palliative Care annual clinical conference and received the Humanitarian Award of Distinction (2015) from the Accolade Competition, which honors filmmakers who bring awareness to issues of ecological, political, social, and spiritual importance.
